It's rare that I am actually made angry by someones post. But seeing a deviant who shall not be named's post recently has left me PO'd.
Their is a reason the Republican party got so little of the black vote in November. I know a lot of crazies out their think that this is because the Democrats are some how "tricking" or "taking advantage" of the black community, but this isn't the case. The Democrats usually get the black community because of the Southern Strategy. Now, the deviant who made this post decided to do some 1984-esque history revision, stating that this never actually happened. I personally find that, for the lack of a better word both disgusting and terrifying. How can you shovel aside a well documented social event so easily? Heck, in 2004, at the RNC, the Republicans apologized for using the strategy!
Too add, a lot of the subtle (sometimes overt) racism aimed towards Barack Obama adds up and is noticed. The reaction to the Trayvon Martin shooting by Republicans, also noticed. The voter suppression (albeit, it was also aimed at old people and whites in social groups that usually vote democrat), noticed. An interesting poll done in 2012 that I can't find unfortunately (and will post if I do) found that since Barack Obama was elected, race relations haven't gotten better or worse, black people are just more aware of existing racism now. Having a black President has made me realize that a lot of Republicans are racist, more racist than I thought.
Second, just because Lincoln was a Republican doesn't mean that the Republican's are still the party that blacks should swoon to. Simply put, the US saw a dramatic shift in through the 60's and 70's in where the parties stand. People shouldn't vote based off what was. They should vote based off what is. Yes, sure, in the 1800's, the Republicans were the party for black people, but it isn't the 1800's.
Also, the Libertarian economic arguments he makes are just mind blowingly stupid. They are another dimension of insanity. It's on the same level as arguing that if we get rid of traffic lights that we'll have less car accidents.
On a personal note, as a black person, I view many American Republicans as racist. Not by virtue of being a Republican, but because a lot of Republicans that I have met have been racist. Not because they have malicious intent, but because they are uneducated on black issues and probably haven't met many black people either. They get all their information on black issues from rich uncle toms who are making some extra cash justifying the policies that hurt blacks. Judging by the way black people vote in America, I think a lot of black people agree with me.
Side note/ disclaimer: I actually like Michael Steel and Condoleeza Rice, and I don't mind Colin Powell. In fact, Powell recently denounced the Republicans as racist. As Colin Powell said, although a lot of the racism of the Republican party isn't noticed by most people, it is noticed by the black community.
There is a dark vein within the Republican party that looks down upon minorities, blacks included. That doesn't exist in the Democratic party. Hence why around 90% of blacks voted Democrat in November.
Anyway, just felt I needed to vent after reading that hideous post.

Emotions In Court
I'm not one for sensationalizing, and I particularly dislike the amount of attention the Jodi Arias case has attracted ....however, something about the reporting on it struck me and I felt the need to talk about it. When the verdict came back as guilty for 1st degree murder, news stations felt the need to report on Jodi's emotional response. Several times I heard news casters and commentators shake their heads and report that she seemed stony and cold; she didn't seem to react the way they expected, and that seemed to effect their like or dislike of her. In one case, a commentator described what would have been an acceptable response to the s
In Light of Recent Events
Recently in Kentucky, a five year old boy shot his two year old with his rifle made especially for children. Marketed as "My First Rifle", over 60 000 were sold in the US last year alone.
So, let me get this straight, mimolette cheese, haggis and Kinder Suprise eggs are too dangerous for America's youth, but rifles aren't?
OOkay their America...
30, 000 deaths per year due to guns? They make you safer. 6 deaths due to Kinder Surprise since 1971 when they first began being produced? Banned.
I totally follow the logic :sarcasm:
Exceptions in the Constitution?
I thought this would be an interesting point for discussion.
Below the video are the actual charter sections do discuss.
Section 1 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is the section that confirms that the rights listed in the Charter are guaranteed. The section is also known as the reasonable limits clause or limitations clause, as it legally allows the government to limit an individual's Charter rights.
Section 33 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is part of the Constitution of Canada. It is commonly known as the notwithstanding clause (or "la clause dérogatoire" in French), or as the override power, and it allows

I want to call attention to your use of the phrase "uncle tom." I find this term extremely racist and offensive, as it is meant to scare black people away from anything deemed to be a part of "white culture." Over the years, I've heard this term applied to black scientists, black businessmen, and black Republicans, and black Libertarians, as though it somehow betrays their race to value science, entrepreneurship, personal responsibility, and liberty.
When you use slurs like "uncle tom" meant to divide people by their race, you lose all credibility in every accusation of racism that you make, because you've shown yourself to be anti-white racist. How am I supposed to believe you when you say that Republicans you've met have been racist, when I know that you think transcending racial stereotypes is somehow an assault on your race? As long as you continue to believe that every black man should devote his life to rejecting "white culture," you will be just as racist as the men who once enslaved your ancestors. Is that why you vote Democrat?
